Emily Osment - Lovesick [Music Video Premiere]

Making the most of her $2 promotional budget for her latest music video Lovesick, Disney pop princess Emily Osment has given us a Gaga meets Tron meets Ke$ha look for her latest music video. Sure, it's cheap looking but you can't have been expecting much could you? Although all of her music videos have been better.. Nevertheless, it's Ke$ha's Your Love Is My Drug on a tight budget. At least she's not giving up..

Big News: Emily Osment's Lovesick isn't dead yet!

If there's one thing you can't blame Emily Osment for, that's trying. Many (including me) would've thought her record label would've given up on Osment's career but she's fighting to stay afloat, as seen by the behind the scenes video above for her upcoming music video for second single Lovesick. The album's first single Let's Be Friends was a moderate hit in some parts of Europe so that could be where they're targeting. Nevertheless, Osment's latest music video looks like Gaga meets Tron meets Ke$ha. Wow. She does want a hit badly.

Nevertheless, the video will premiere January 14th on Myspace (who goes on that website anymore?).

Emily Osment - Fight or Flight (Album Review)

Not signing with Disney's record label Hollywood Records may have been a good thing for Emily Osment, who stars as Miley Cyrus' sidekick Lily Truscott on the successful Hannah Montana series. It has allowed her to explore different areas of music, regardless of whether they've been successful or not. Fight or Flight sees Osment fully embracing the dance pop trend. I'm not sure it's suited for Osment, though, as apposed to the pop/rock sound we heard on her debut EP All The Right Wrongs.

Fight or Flight opens with the delightful second single Lovesick and trods on mindlessly till the album ends before you even know it. A few tracks do try to save the album, besides the aforementioned Lovesick, there's also the album's first single Let's Be Friends which bleeps and blurps like an arcade yet has a stadium-sized monster of a chorus which soon becomes a guilty pleasure. Among all the ballads, Marisol is a cut above the rest. It manages not to be boring and forgettable like the rest of the slow numbers on the album.

But there's a problem with this collection of songs - there's little to no soul. Unlike Cyrus who does seem like she means what she sings most of the time, it just sounds like Osment made an album of catchy albeit forgettable songs to milk her career further.

Fight or Flight isn't horrible by any measure, and when Osment decides to give you a guilty pleasure of a track, she sure as heck will, but the problem is, will you actually remember the songs on the album the next day? Because I didn't.

Shakira's Loca makes a surprise entrance at #98 this week. Selena Gomez & The Scene's A Year Without Rain rounds out the Hot 100 standing feebly at #100 this week.

Toby Keith's Bullet's In The Gun debuts atop the Billboard 200 albums chart while Katy Perry's sophomore pop album Teenage Dream flies up to #8, getting the title of Greatest Gainer from #18 last week, most possibly thanks to that SNL episode. Selena Gomez & The Scene's A Year Without Rain stays strong at #10 this week. David Archuleta's sophomore pop album The Other Side Of Down debut at #13 after moving over 20, 000 units in its first week of release. Sara Bareilles' sophomore album Kaleidoscope Heart falls for 4 slots down to #49. With the success of OneRepublic's latest single Secrets, the parent album has shot up to #133 from #177 the previous week. Disney Channel's soundtrack for Sonny With A Chance makes a debut at #163. Emily Osment's debut full-length studio album Fight Or Flight enters the chart at #170.

Emily Osment - Lovesick live at Good Day New York

Disney star (who did not sign with Disney's Hollywwod Records) Emily Osment paid Good Day New York a visit to perform Lovesick, the second single off her upcoming album Fight Or Flight. The song itself is pretty infectious, but it's club-loving pop sound to it is lost in this live performance. And yes, it is actually live. Sure, her vocals are hardly mindblowing but hey, the song itself is pretty good. Check out the performance above.

Emily Osment, the indie star signed to Wind-Up Records released her debut EP last year but it didn't do well thanks to little promotion. Her new single Let's Be Friends debuted months ago but I've never really liked the song. I don't think this will be a hit for her and the bridge of the song still kinda annoys me. But I loved You Are The Only One for the most part.

Things are always slow in the music business this time of the year so Artist Of The Month is pretty difficult. I'm sure things will get better for April though. With hardly any album releases in March now, the only one that's notable is the still untitled debut album by Emily Osment that's tentatively set for a March 9th release. So, you can expect Emily Osment to be March's Artist Of The Month, that is unless new album release dates drop by.
