The Mountain Goats to headline 'Rock for Roe' benefit

To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the landmark Supreme Court case Roe v. Wade, local musicians led by John Darnielle (The Mountain Goats) will hold a benefit show for NARAL Pro-Choice North Carolina in Durham later this month.

The event will take place at The Pinhook on Saturday, January 20, and will feature Darnielle, possibly joined by members of Midtown Dickens, playing a requests set.

Diamond Rugs to play free show in Durham

Indie rock and roll supergroup Diamond Rugs, featuring members of Deer Tick, Black Lips, Los Lobos and Dead Confederate, are hitting the road on a short tour this month which will culminate in a performance at the Fun Fun Fun Fest in Austin. On the way to Texas, the band will stop in the Triangle for a free show.

New music from Wood Ear - "Leave My Walls"

Durham folk rock band Wood Ear will release its first release in five years this summer. The band's Steeple Vultures EP will be available June 12 on Churchkey Records

Wood Ear will play a release party at Pinhook on Saturday, June 9, joined by Spider Bags and WOWOLFOL. Tickets are $5 and the show kicks off at 10 p.m.
