Bowerbirds raising money to fund new album, studio & more

Local indie folk band Bowerbirds is gearing up to work on a new album and has launched an elaborate Kickstarter campaign to raise money for it as well as other musical ventures.



The band is attempting to raise $28,000 to build an earth-friendly, hand-built recording studio at their home, record and release a brand new Bowerbirds album and an album from Phil's new side project, Island Dweller.

Bowerbirds & Mount Moriah to play big hometown show

As the weather gets colder and the holidays draw near, some of the Triangle's biggest local acts tend to hunker down around home, leading to some fantastic gigs popping up. One of those has just been announced which will feature Bowerbirds and Mount Moriah.

The pair will play the Cat's Cradle in Carrboro on Saturday, December 8. Tickets will go on sale on Friday, October 5 via Etix for $12.

Bowerbirds to play Saxapahaw in the fall

After returning to the states after a European tour in August and before heading out on a fall tour of the U.S. in October, Bowerbirds will come home for a big show in the Triangle.



The band will play the Haw River Ballroom in Saxapahaw on Saturday, September 22. Tickets are on sale now via Ticketfly for $12.

Win tickets to see Midtown Dickens and friends at Duke Gardens

As we mentioned yesterday, next week's Midtown Dickens show at Duke Gardens, part of Duke Performances' Music in the Gardens series, is sure to be a great one. Members of Megafaun, Lost in the Trees & more to join Midtown Dickens at Duke Gardens

When Duke Performances rolled out the 2012 Music in the Gardens lineup back in back in April, Midtown Dickens show on July 18 was listed as "Midtown Dickens + Special Guests." Those guests have now been revealed and there are quite a few of them.

New music video from Bowerbirds - "Sweet Moment"

Bowerbirds have been cranking out music videos from their new album The Clearing. First there was "Tuck the Darkness In" back in March, then "Overcome With Light" earlier this month, and now there's another new clip.

This one is for "Sweet Moment" and it is beautiful video story of a young couple broken up when the girl moves away. Check it out below.

Video: Bowerbirds cover Doug Paisley in Belgium

Back in the spring when Bowerbirds were touring Europe, they stopped by Studio Brussel in Brussels, Belgium, to perform a few songs, one of which was a fantastic cover of Doug Paisley's "No One But You." While touring in support of their latest album The Clearing, Bowerbirds recently stopped in Minneapolis, MN and performed some songs for MPLS.TV and their label, Dead Oceans.
